PFCS Desktop Configuration Guide

1.   Check that the CGI environment and mod_plsql is functioning. Point the browser to:

      http://orangepw1.rural.usda.gov:8304/pls/pfcspr/FND_WEB.PING

 

  This should output the following results:

 

      FND_WEB.PING

2.    Check JServlets function.  Point the browser to:

 

 http://orangepw1.rural.usda.gov:8304/servlets/IsItWorking

 

 Which should give you the following output:

   Yes, It's working!

     Congratulations, ApacheJServ/1.1.2 is working!

     [ local time is Wed Mar 10 12:52:21 EST 2004 ]

        If steps 1 and 2 above malfunction, contact the PFCS DBA Team for further assistance (x8882, x8863, x8848).

3.      Check browser settings: Ensure your browser has cookies enabled.    In Internet Explorer this can be checked from:

   Tools -> Internet Options  

   Oracle Applications uses 'per-session' cookies. Set cookies to "enable" to ensure they are being set correctly.  Also verify that activex settings are all set to “Enable”.

4.                      Set the default link in internet explorer to:

        http://orangepw1.rural.usda.gov:8304

5.                      Test the above link using the username and password provided by the application security group for the new user or a known valid username/password combination.

6.                      Verify that the version of Adobe Acrobat Reader on the workstation is version 5 or higher.  If not, then install/upgrade the Adobe version via install CD or download.

7.                      Verify that the putty telnet utility is installed on the workstation.  If not, download it from:

        http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

        or similar download site (search in yahoo under “putty free download”.

8.      Configure putty to connect to pfcsproddb using the “ssh” option and save the configuration in putty.
